My First Post

I have been sewing for quite some time now.  Mostly just very simple projects, nothing too complicated.  This however is the first quilt I've made.  It's a doll quilt.  I used this tutorial over at Sew Mama Sew and the binding tutorial over at Crazy Mom Quilts.  Did you hear she might be blogging again soon?  I can't wait, love her!  This quilt is for my two-year-old's babies.  It was fun to make and though I was scared to quilt it, I think it turned out pretty well.  These pictures didn't turn out the greatest, but part of that is due to the cloudy nature of the Great Pacific Northwest.
I did a little embroidery on some of the squares.  A little M for her name and some french knots on a few of the squares where there were already white dots printed on the fabric.  All of these fabrics were in my stash and all of them were purchased at JoAnns.  The backing was just a simple blue remnant from a previous project.
I have just recently started making hexies for a charm quilt.  I am hooked!  Thanks to Melanie at Texas Freckles.  These were some of the first, they are all Heidi Grace prints.
I have a long way to go and this is one project that could take years.  My stash is just too small.  Then again, is there a stash that's too big?

  1. Yea! I'm so glad to see you here in blogland! Your doll quilt is adorable! I love all the stitching; what a great way to give your quilts some extra dimension. And, your hexagons are looking fab-u-lous! Don't worry about the stash thing... before you know it, you'll be wondering what you are going to do with all that fabric!
